Trey Songz Channels Vintage Trigga Vibes on “Can’t Be Mad”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This track gives me “When You’re Mad” vibes.

I’ll be completely real with you: After Trey Songz got caught up in a few weird cases, I stopped listening to his music as much. Before that, I was a huge fan. That said, it’s innocent until proven guilty, so I recommend everyone reserve judgment about him until he gets caught with a RICO.

Anywho, unbeknownst to me, I didn’t realize that Trey Songz had released a few tracks in 2025. His latest, “Can’t Be Mad,” arrived on streaming services on Friday. Good for him!

In “Can’t Be Mad,” Trey Songz talks about getting into an argument with his girl, who seems to be drunk off the liquor. In true bipolar fashion, Trey dives into the chaos, bringing up the fact that her anger actually turns him on. He also takes responsibility for being f**ked up, too.

What I like about the track—driven by an easygoing, pretty smooth beat—is that Trey sings with a simple melody that lets you really soak in his crazy lyrics. He also delivers a soothing, seductive vocal performance that makes this feel like a love song built on something toxic.

All in all, this track gives me vintage Trigga vibes—which is a good thing.
